The new line 5 without Milan metro driver, that with their 92 Km in length is the longest in Italy, With 101 Stations through which more than one million people travel daily, has relied on the security of the same in the cameras of video surveillance and in the solutions of communication of public address of Bosch Security Systems.

Due to the peculiarity of the ancient architecture of this beautiful Italian city and the resulting limitations, The lines of communication between the individual safety components had to be as non-invasive as possible to carry out the safety project on the new line. 5 Driverless.

The agreed solution was the deployment of a wireless LAN network covering the 13 Km of line length, through its nineteen new stations, in which it was necessary to integrate video surveillance cameras and a public address system for the management of passenger information and evacuation measures.

The company Ansaldo STS, In charge of the design of the video surveillance and public address system, decided to take on the challenge with the Bosch Security Systems team, to install four hundred vandal-resistant FlexiDome cameras, The digital processing technology of 10 Bit, Video and audio signal transmission encoders, as well as ten iSCSI storage drives.

The Praesideo digital public address system was selected as the evacuation component and installed at each station of the new line. 5 of the Milan metro, connected via the previously deployed wireless LAN.

In addition, all systems supplied by Bosch Security Systems are integrated via a software development kit (Sdk) in the control room to form a complete solution.

In this sense, Milan's automated M5 metro line can be controlled over its entire route from a single hub, that processes all information centrally. The center is able to issue all the necessary orders to ensure the proper functioning of the line, passenger safety, appropriate maintenance measures and optimal use of operational staff (Mobile Agents).
