APC Overnight's distribution centre in Cannonk (West Midlands – United Kingdom) He needed a video surveillance system that would allow him to see, at all times and in real time, What was happening at their facility. This is why they decided to implement a multipurpose video over IP solution.

For the implementation of this project they chose to install the video surveillance cameras of Samsung Techwin and had the help of the company Securitec System for system installation and maintenance.

APC Overnight is the UK's largest next-day delivery courier network. The company, with more than 115 Local warehouses, has invested 16,5 million pounds sterling at a new distribution centre in Cannock, that with their 12.820 square meters allows to maintain its annual growth and offer high levels of service through cutting-edge technology.

The construction of this new distribution centre has given APC Overnight the opportunity to take advantage of the quality images that can be captured by the latest generation megapixel cameras., deploying them in locations where it may be necessary to obtain images for testing or where, as in conveyor belts and loading docks, There may be a need to zoom and observe, up close and in detail, any activity.

One of the main benefits of an IP video system is that it offers the option to control and monitor cameras from anywhere on the network "This means that the security personnel of our distribution center are not limited to watching live images or reviewing the videos recorded from a central control room.. They can simultaneously access the system, while the operations team, from your computers, Tablets or smartphones, supervise the activity", comments Colin Dicken, Director of Security, APC Overnight.

APC Overnight places great emphasis on being able to track every package processed at the Cannock distribution center to ensure shipments arrive in perfect condition and on time.. "It's important to identify each package as it passes through the distribution center., so that any claim, for loss or damage, can be investigated correctly. Samsung's HD cameras give us a visual report of how we carefully and properly treat our customers' packages from the moment they arrive at Cannock. This is achieved by connecting the video surveillance system with the reservation system by bar codes", explains Colin Dicken.

These cameras include day/night function, automatically configures to capture color or black-and-white images depending on lighting conditions. They also incorporate a scene change manipulation option that creates an alert if, For example, paint is sprayed on the lens of a camera or there is an unauthorized movement of the camera that separates it from its normal field of view.

The rest of the cameras are a mixture between fixed cameras and PTZ domes, each of them selected for the specific location where it is installed so that the video surveillance system meets the expectations of APC Overnight.
Images captured by all cameras are recorded on Samsung network video recorders, offering operators the opportunity to view live and recorded videos with the help of free video surveillance management software, Samsung Security Manager.
