Siemens has been the technological provider of the security system, access control and automation of the Mané Garrincha National Stadium in Brasilia, Brazil's second-largest, with the capacity to 70.000 seats that hosted the opening match of the recent Confederations Cup in 2013 and will host as many in the World Cup 2014.

Siemens stadium Mane Garrincha BrasiliaFruit of the agreement with the Brasilia Consortium 2014, in which several construction companies from Brazil participate, Siemens security system is composed of more 400 CCTV cameras; 150 lathes for access control; 6.000 control points and, Approximately, equal number of fire detection points.

The CCTV system allows to identify the spectators in any of the stands and grandstands of the field, managed with advanced image processing software, which also facilitates access by hierarchical password that allows security forces (Police, firefighters and private security) identify potential problems and take appropriate action to address them.

Siemens stadium Mane Garrincha BrasiliaThe access control system supplied by Siemens can integrate the database with the most diverse ticketing systems, so that the operator of this facility can promote a wide variety of events.

The lathes at the entrance points to the Mané Garrincha stadium are ready to work with all the identification technologies that currently exist on the market, as barcodes 1 and 2D, mifare cards and smartcards. All system data is fully encrypted, which increases the security of the operations that are carried out and eliminates the falsification of entries.

The technical areas of the stadium also have the coverage of the security system, so the staff of the same does not need keys to open the numerous doors of this sports complex.

In this sense, all technologies supplied are centralized in a single command and control unit, from where the stadium systems are accessed and managed through a single monitor, as has already happened with the installation of these Siemens solutions in more than 150 sports facilities of the world, such as the aforementioned Allianz Arena (Germany), the Gdansk Stadium (Poland) and in eight stadiums in South Africa.

Automation and sustainability

Mané Garrincha also has Siemens automation solutions to control water and energy consumption in the stadium, in order to reduce the emission of waste with the use of sustainable technology, since one of the objectives is that this sports complex becomes the first in the world to achieve LEED Platinum certification, which is awarded exclusively to buildings that meet the highest environmental standards.

Siemens stadium Mane Garrincha BrasiliaSiemens building automation software installed in the stadium meets LEED certification requirements, as it controls consumption, measurement and use of water and energy, the use of air conditioning and the integration of fire detection systems, alarm and security.

In addition to the german manufacturer's building automation technology, the project in the Mané Garrincha also includes computer and sound systems for the entire sports complex, in collaboration with other partner firms.
