Axis Communications has incorporated into its catalog a series of accessories for its network video products that allow to expand the possibilities of digital video surveillance systems: axis T8604, a media converter switch that allows users to harness the power of fiber optics; axis T8129, a PoE Extender that extends the range of Ethernet cabling; and axis T8640, an Ethernet over coaxial PoE+ adapter, helps protect cabling investments.

Eloin Weijl, Axis Communications Iberia Marketing Manager, has indicated in this regard: "With the increase in IP video installations the needs of users sometimes become more complex. We are expanding our range of accessories in order to expand the possibilities of IP video systems and, at the same time, to respond to some of the requests that we receive more repeatedly from users and that until now we covered with third-party products. It is important for us to find the right accessories that meet these demands and that are quick and easy to install.

blankAxis T8604 Media Converter Switch
Specially designed for facilities with long distances such as those that usually exist in citizen video surveillance systems or in airports, The Axis T8604 media converter switch is a device that converts the Ethernet signal so that it can be used via fiber optic cable. Includes two fiber SPF slots and two RJ-45 ports for connecting two devices per unit, it also incorporates a DIN mounting clamp and is compatible with all Axis IP video products.

Fiber optic connections are commonly used in video surveillance facilities where thunderstorms are a threat or need to cover large distances. During installation integrators can connect installation monitors or their laptops to Axis T8604 for maintenance and control. The Axis T8604 media converter switch can operate in a temperature range ranging from -40ºC to 75ºC.

blankAxis T8129 Power over Ethernet Extender
Axis T8129 Power over Ethernet extender allows video data to reach beyond the maximum distance recommended by the IEEE standard, 100 Meters, for twisted pair copper wiring (Cat 5e/6 Ethernet cable). Sometimes called a repeater, Axis T8129 does not require power supply and is compatible with IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at standards. This device allows you to install cameras over long distances (more than a kilometer) since it is possible to use several units in the same wiring line.

blankAxis T8640 Ethernet over Coax Adapter PoE+
The Axis T8129 Ethernet Over Coaxial PoE+ adapter represents another option that simplifies the transition from analog to digital video by allowing users to take advantage of existing coaxial cable installations and include IP video cameras to enable network-based storage and the use of video management software.

These devices are used by connecting an Axis IP video camera via an Ethernet cable, and the Axis T8642 is used to transfer video and camera control data via the existing coaxial cable. Axis T8641 is then used to convert the signal and transmit it over Ethernet to the network switch. Thanks to its intuitive LED-based display, the Axis T8460 allows easy installation by confirming the status of the network and power supply, no need to access remote computers to verify connections. The Axis T8460 model for exclusive use indoors allows you to operate with wiring of more than 500 Meters, depending on the type and quality of the coaxial wiring, as well as the camera-specific model.

These new Axis Communications accessories are expected to be available through Axis' usual sales channels during the second quarter of 2012.
